Today’s lesson, I assumed everyone knew, but people I met today seemed not to know how to accept or give it. So here’s a lesson to all who don’t know.

Kindness is divided into two different parts. One is giving it and the other is accepting it. Somethimes the latter is more difficult.

Here a few simple ways to be kind to everyone you meet.
Smile. Sometimes that’s all it takes to turn someone’s day around. Make eye contact and give a small, sweet smile.
Say Thank you. If someone opens a door for you, thank them. Let them know that you appreciate the gesture. It’s only the nice thing to do. If someone smiles at you, smile back.
 Compliment. If you see someone who looks particularly sad, compliment their outfit. It always makes someone feel nice to know that someone likes what they wear. Maybe they have nice hair or eyes, point them out.
Donate. Here in the US, during the holiday season, you see red buckets hanging outside stores. Go up and give change. Lets admit it, few people use change. It only piles up in our purses or pockets. Drop a few coins in the bucket to help those less fortunate.
Volunteer. Maybe you want to stand by the Red Buckets and ring the bell. Maybe you can help at an animal or homeless shelter. Volunteering is helping others in a direct way. They’re thankful for it and it’ll make you feel good.
Help. If you see a woman struggling with a baby and trying to a heavy box, offer to help. Now let me tell you this with caution. Don’t put yourself in danger by carrying it into their house, but you can help them in a public place. Maybe an old woman at the grocery store is trying to get something from the bottom shelf. Get the item for her and remember to smile!
